Yes! Here's the unfortunate truth about divorce today. Lawyers make money when you fight. It’s not in your lawyer’s financial best interest to make sure YOU are educated about divorce. What's more, lawyers have the curse of knowledge. They have been doing what they're doing for so long that they've forgotten what it's like to NOT know how things work. So they often don't explain things to you at the level that you need them to.
What’s more, it’s not just WHAT you know that’s important. It’s WHEN you know it.
If you’re going to bake a cake, knowing that the recipe requires two eggs is important. But if you don’t realize that you’re out of eggs until after all the other ingredients are already in the mixing bowl, then making your cake suddenly becomes way more complicated.
When your lawyer doesn't give you information (or ask you for information!) until the last minute it's too late to plan anything. You have no choice but to REACT rather than ACT.

Reading information that some angry human wrote after their divorce 10 years ago may be comforting (or not!) but it also could be totally wrong!
